Do Good, Feel Good, and Be Safe

This past Sunday was dry and hot in Los Angeles.  I, once again, participated in a Stair Climbing event called the Fight For Air Climb sponsored by the American Lung Association.  Team Train With Susan (Beth was my other team member) were climbers of over 3400 stairs up and down the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Of course, climbing stairs is a great way to keep in shape.  By climbing with the American Lung Association, Team Train With Susan was supporting people with lung disease who are fighting for every breath.  I was also stepping up for clean air across the country and in our community and, of course, I was doing something positive for myself.

As you can imagine, climbing that many stairs, which are of different heights, could be a little tricky. Plus, the day was warm (about 70 degrees) with full sun.  We were up for the challenge.  We wore gloves with gripping dots on the palm and held on to the handrails as much as we could.  This way, if either of us tripped, we knew I wouldn’t fall.  We both applied sunscreen and donned brimmed hats.  We always need to protect ourselves from the sun.

Worried about traffic and parking as there was another community event nearby, Beth and I took the Expo Line.  It was a stress-free way to get to and from our event.  In addition, our event was about air.  We did our best by not putting an unnecessary car on the road changing the air quality.

It is always good to do something different and it is always good to be challenged.  It is also very important that we do so in a safe way.

Charity events are a good way to Do Good and Feel Good.  (And you can do so safely.)
