How Do You Breathe?
In the summer of 2021, I read a book that had a big influence on my life. The book was Breath by James Nestor. I learned about the differences between nose breathing and mouth breathing and how breathing, if done properly, can help one’s quality of life.
Paying attention to our breathing isn’t easy. It is so automatic. We tend to only think about it when we exert ourselves and find it harder to breathe and “catch our breath.” Or when we have a cold and we can only breathe through our mouth.
As we age, we may have breathing issues when we sleep. Some people will develop sleep apnea.
I recently came across an article on-line titled “How Mouth Breathing Can Undermine Your Health—-and Easy Ways to Fix It.”
The on-line article quotes James Nestor and includes a link to a video that features him explaining some of what is in the book. There are a few other video links that take you through some breathing exercises.
I have included the link to the article below. I believe it is a good investment of your time to read it and watch the videos.
I’d love to hear what you think.
